Fraternity Dues

Postby Guest on Sun Feb 07, 2010 10:43 pm

Are the dues for fraternities that expensive? What would be the cheapest and which would be the most expensive? I want to rush next fall but I really hate the thought of money getting in the way and I know I won't be able to afford anything over $1,000 a semester. Should I still even try?

They are all gonna be around $2000 a semester but you have to keep in mind that a lot of that is the food. Some houses offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner on every weekday. That means that you only have to buy food for weekends which will cut a lot off of living expenses.

Do you have to get the meal plans? Also if I won't be living in the house will that lower the cost?

some places you do not have to get the meal plan, however, getting the meal plan, and living in the house is actually the cheapest way to go. it is often way cheaper than having an apartment and a university meal plan. it is even cheaper than getting your own food, unless you live off of ramen noodles.

I can definitely see how the food can be cheaper but living in the house, although would be great, isn't an option for me since I have a dog. So even if I do not live in the house, will I still be paying the same amount upwards in the thousands?

Yes. Take out a loan or get a job like the rest of us in the greek system who have to pay for things themselves.

Try $1400, including lunch & dinner 5 days a week. I don't know what bullshit your paying for in your brotherhood but we rage hard on our budget and apparently are saving a few hundred dollars more a semester thhwten ya.
